We had such a fun time making some classic Halloween crafts a couple months back that we knew we wanted to revisit some of our childhood Christmas crafts, too. They bring back so many wonderful memories for us and we hope they might for you, as well.
POPSICLE STICK SNOWMAN
- 10 popsicle sticks
- White and black acrylic paint
- Craft glue (we used Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue)
- Googly wiggle eyes
- Orange and green felt
- Red pom pom
- Permanent marker
Line up 8 popsicle sticks side to side. Using a pencil, draw a line across arranged popsicle sticks designating where you would like to place the brim of the hat. Paint the lower portion of the 8 popsicle sticks white and the upper portion black. For final two popsicle sticks, paint one white and the other black. Let dry completely.
Line up 8 original popsicle sticks, facing down. Apply a line of craft glue to one side of white popsicle stick and place across ones lying face down. Let dry completely. Turn snowman over and glue black popsicle stick to where white and black paint meet. Let dry completely.
Place a dot of glue on back of 2 googly wiggle eyes and attach to snowman in desired locations.
Using scissors, cut a nose out of orange felt and 2 holly leaves out of green felt. Glue nose to snowman’s face and holly leaves above the brim of the hat. Attach red pom pom where holly leaves meet using craft glue. Let dry completely.
Draw a “coal” mouth on snowman using permanent marker.
PAPER PLATE SANTA HAT
- Red paper/party plate
- White pom poms
- Hot glue gun
- Glue sticks
Using scissors, cut center circle from paper plate. Dispose of outer edge. Cut a line from edge of circle to center. Roll plate into a cone and secure along bottom edge of plate with a staple.
Attach smaller white pom poms along bottom edge of hat using hot glue. Place a small dot on side of a larger white pom pom and push down slightly into tip of hat. Let dry completely.
PIPE CLEANER CANDY CANE
- Silver glitter pipe cleaners
- Wire cutters
- Red and white tri beads
- Needle nose pliers (optional)
Cut pipe cleaner in half using wire cutters.
Fold one end of pipe cleaner about 1/4 to 1/2-inch from tip and wrap around with hands or needle nose pliers.
String tri beads, alternating red and white, on opposite end of pipe cleaner, leaving about 1/4 to 1/2-inch empty. Fold end and wrap around to secure. Shape pipe cleaner into candy cane using hands.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: Each of these crafts would make a great addition as decorations on a kids christmas tree.
