We love good Cuban food and this hearty classic is always a favorite. Layers and layers of delicious goodness are piled and then pressed in this Florida standard.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
- Loaf of Cuban bread (Italian bread can be substituted)
- Yellow mustard
- 1/2 pound ham, sliced
- 1/2 pound roasted pork, sliced (can be found in deli)
- 8 slices pickle sandwich stuffers/stackers
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Preheat panini press to medium heat.
Cut ends off bread loaf then cut in half lengthwise. Cut bread into 4 equal sections.
Separate bread halves onto work surface. Spread desired amount of mustard on all halves of bread. Layer bottom halves with 2-4 slices of both ham and pork. Layer top halves with pickles and Swiss cheese. Close sandwiches and press gently.
Butter top and bottom of sandwiches and place on panini press. Cook until bread is crisp and sandwich is warmed through, about 8-10 minutes. Let cool slightly.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: If you don’t have a panini press, feel free to use a large skillet or griddle. Wrap the sandwiches in aluminum foil and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. To keep the sandwiches flat, place a heavy skillet (like cast iron) on top of them while they cook.
