COOKING WITH CHEF CHARLOTTE
If you ask Chef Charlotte what her favorite food is, she’ll probably say ice cream – chocolate, to be exact. We’ll show you how easy it is to make decadent, chocolatey ice cream with only five simple ingredients.
Prep time: 4 hours
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (not dutch processed)
- 2 cups half and half
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Prepare large baking dish by placing in the freezer until cold.
Whisk together sugar and cocoa powder in large bowl. Add half and half and heavy cream and whisk until mixture is smooth and creamy. Mix in vanilla. Pour ice cream mixture into prepared baking dish and return to freezer.
Every 30 minutes, remove baking dish from freezer and lightly stir ice cream. Repeat for 3-4 hours. Once desired consistency has been reached, place a sheet of plastic wrap on surface of ice cream and return to freezer until ready to serve.
CHEF CHARLOTTE TIP: My daddies say this yummy treat can also be made in an ice cream maker. Just be sure to follow the package instructions.
