These adorable homemade hair clips are a super-cute way to add a little luck to your ensemble. No sewing required – just a few simple supplies and, of course, a little bit of glitter.
- Felt in two shades of green
- Hot glue gun
- Glue sticks
- Green button
- Extra fine gold glitter
- Craft glue (we used Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue)
Cut four 2-inch tall heart shapes from one sheet of green felt. Cut four 2 1/2-inch tall heart shapes from second sheet of green felt.
Apply 1-inch zig zag of hot glue on larger heart, starting at bottom point. Position smaller heart on top so that points meet. Press to secure. Let dry completely. Repeat with remaining hearts. Apply a 1/2-inch line of hot glue on front of heart, starting at bottom point. Press sides together to create a pucker in heart. Repeat with remaining hearts. Position two puckered hearts together, so that edges meet, and secure with dot of hot glue at bottom point. Repeat with remaining hearts. Snip off bottom 1/8-inch of each set of hearts. Position hearts together to create clover shape and secure with hot glue in center.
Place dot of hot glue on back of button and position in center of clover. Let dry completely.
Cut two 2-inch strips of green felt. Place small dot of hot glue in center of one strip and affix second strip across to create X shape. Position hair clip on center of backside of clover. Open clip and apply line of hot glue on side of clip touching felt. Place one strip of felt X on top of hot glue and press to secure. Apply dot of hot glue to ends of other strip and press to secure. Let dry completely.
Using paintbrush, apply thin layer of craft glue in pinched corners of hearts. Sprinkle with gold glitter and shake to remove excess glitter. Let dry completely.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: This same idea can be used to create a brooch, as well. Just substitute the hair clip with a pin back.
