If you’re looking for a new family favorite recipe then you’ve hit the jackpot. This easy one-pot meal is creamy, full of flavor and just plain delicious.
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
- 1 pound Italian sweet sausage
- 1 small yellow onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 cups low-sodium vegetable broth
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 16 ounces uncooked ziti
- 14.5 ounce can petite diced tomatoes
- Shredded Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Turn your Instant Pot or other electric pressure cooker on to sauté.
Add sausage, onion and garlic to Instant Pot. Cook until sausage is lightly browned and onion is soft and translucent, about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off sauté function.
Remove grease from Instant Pot. Add basil, oregano, salt and pepper and stir for a few seconds. Add broth and stir to combine. Pour in heavy cream, not stirring after addition. Add ziti to Instant Pot and push down into liquid with spoon until fully submerged. Add tomatoes and flatten into a single layer on top of pasta. Place lid on Instant Pot and lock into place, making sure the valve is set to seal. Set to cook on high pressure for 5 minutes.
Let pressure naturally release for 10-15 minutes then carefully open the pressure release valve (quick release). Remove lid. Stir pasta until well combined. Garnish with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: Be sure to submerge the pasta into the liquid as much as possible to avoid any uncooked pieces after cooking.
