This festive leaf garland proudly showcases all of the beautiful colors of the season. With (safety) scissors in hand, your kiddos can create their own handmade decorations.

  • Fall Leaves Template (available below)
  • Cardstock
  • Stiffened felt in various fall colors
  • Permanent marker
  • Scissors
  • 1-hole punch
  • Yarn
  • Children’s plastic needle

Print Falls Leaves Template (available below) on cardstock and cut out leaves with scissors.

Trace leaves onto felt with permanent marker and cut out with scissors. Once all leaves have been cut, make two holes, about 1-inch apart from each other, near the stem of the leaves using a 1-hole punch.

Thread yarn through needle. Thread leaves onto yarn by inserting needle in one hole on the leaf and then out the other hole. Repeat until all leaves have been threaded. Space leaves out desired distance from one another then cut yarn from skein. Create a loop to hang your garland by making a loop at one end then tying a knot to secure the loop. Repeat at the other end.

ORANGE & FIELD TIP: Don’t worry if the leaves don’t look absolutely perfect after the kiddos cut them out. No two real leaves look the same so it’s okay if the felts ones don’t either.
