What better way to ring in the New Year than with a bunch of noise. These DIY noise makers are not only easy to make – they’re lots of fun and super customizable, too.
- 6-inch white paper plates
- 6-inch wooden dowels
- Markers (we used craft, glitter and opaque paint markers)
- Stickers (optional)
- Beans, popcorn kernels or lentils
- Hot glue gun
- Glue sticks
Decorate bottoms of two paper plates with markers and, if desired, stickers. Color wooden dowel with markers. Let dry completely.
Place one plate right side up on work surface and fill with about 1-2 tablespoons of beans, popcorn kernels or lentils. Apply a line of hot glue along rim of plate and place wooden dowel in desired location, leaving about 5 inches exposed for handle. Place second paper plate on top so rims meet and carefully press until set. Fill open space around wooden dowel with hot glue. Let dry completely.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: We used lentils for our noise makers since the plates were smaller. Based on the size of your paper plates, you may be able to use beans instead.
