Kids will love being able to make their own not-so-scary, creepy, crawly friends. They’re super soft, too.
Cut two lengths of yarn twice the width of your hand. Set aside.
To make pom pom, wrap yarn around the width of your fingers, excluding your thumb, until you reach the desired amount (the more yarn you use, the fluffier your pom pom will be). Cut yarn around your hand from skein and carefully slide off your fingers, ensuring you keep the shape of the loops. Slide one piece of reserved yarn through center of loop and tightly tie with a knot. Place four pipe cleaners over center knot. Slide second piece of reserved yarn through center of loop and tightly tie with a knot to secure pipe cleaners. Cut up each side of yarn ball and trim to desired size with scissors.
To make spider with head, repeat above process to make a smaller pom pom, wrapping yarn around three fingers instead of four. Place a large dab of hot glue on one side of smaller pom pom and attach to body in desired spot. Let dry completely.
To attach eyes, place a small dab of hot glue on back of two googly wiggle eyes and attach to front of spider in desired spots. Let dry completely.
Bend pipe cleaners in two different directions to create legs and feet.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: These adorable spiders can also be made using store-bought pom poms.
