With just a few supplies, you’ll have a fun DIY that kiddos are sure to love. If they’re anything like Charlotte, they’ll want to get in on the fun (hence the silly jack ‘o’ lantern faces).
- String lights
- 16 ounce orange plastic cups (enough to match the number of lights)
- Black permanent marker
- Sharp knife
- Green pipe cleaners
- Wire cutters
Rotate cups so that the open tops are setting on work surface. Using a permanent marker, draw jack ‘o’lantern faces on side of cups.
With a sharp knife, carefully cut an X in the bottoms (now tops) of each cup, ensuring that the X is large enough to slide the light through without breaking the cups.
Carefully push each light through each X, repeating until all lights have been covered.
Using wire cutters, cut each pipe cleaner in half. Wrap each half around the strand of each light, creating a vine for the top of the pumpkins.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: We used C7 LED lights, which required an X in each cup about 2 inches in diameter. You may need to adjust the size of the X based on the type of lights you use.
