Forget snowballs. Sponge balls are soft, squishy and kids will have a blast tossing them around. What better way to beat the heat?
- At least three new, clean cellulose sponges (per ball)
- Nylon cable ties
- Wire cutters
Using scissors, cut each sponge lengthwise into 1/2 inch strips. Lay strips on top of each other in 3-5 layers, with approximately 3-5 strips per layer.
Slide a nylon cable tie underneath the bottom layer and cinch it across the middle of the layers, pulling the cable tie as tight as possible. Snip the extra piece of cable tie, ensuring there’s no sharp edges remaining. Fluff the layers into a ball.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: Try making numerous sponge balls with different size layers both horizontally and vertically to create balls of all sorts of sizes.
