Enjoy the sights and sounds of summer when dining outside. Let us inspire you with a few tips and tricks, straight from our summer table to yours.

Let the sights, sounds and smell of summer inspire your table. Embrace the colors of nature. The chirping of birds. The smell of citrus.

Just as with your summer floral wreath, use the beauty of this time of year as your inspiration.

A bright, vibrant tablecloth (like the one we used which belonged to Howard’s great-grandmother) provides an instant burst of color and a spectacular base to start with. Build from that…incorporate that color into other aspects of your table, as well. From matching napkins to the greenery on the table, a cohesive color palate will really shine.

Create height and drama with cake stands and glass domes. Fill them with citrus and other summer treats. We like to use fresh citrus to really bring home the smell of an ideal summer.

While we used some of our favorite china and flatware, feel free to keep it simple. Not every table necessarily needs a full setting. If possible, keep the theme of summer colors going with your dishes, too.

Fresh flowers make a delightful addition to any table but artificial ones can be just as beautiful. There’s so many wonderful florals this time of year that will blend with any table setting.

We love using items we find at antique stores on our tables as they add not only a touch of character but can also sometimes be a great conversation starter, as well. This is the perfect time to use those family heirlooms, too.

Bring the beauty of summer into your home.

ORANGE & FIELD TIP: If you’re dining outside in the evening, build your summer table with that in mind. Using LED candles and hanging lanterns can provide just the right amount of ambience.
