One of our all-time favorite desserts is a tiramisu that was prepared table-side at a restaurant that, unfortunately, is no longer in business. We’re paying tribute to that fabulous treat with this recipe.
Prep time: 10 minutes
- 3/4 cup mascarpone cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 lady finger cookies
- 6 ounces espresso/strong coffee
- Cocoa powder, for serving
Combine mascarpone cheese and heavy cream, in 1/4 cup increments, in a medium bowl with a spoon until well incorporated. Add powdered sugar and whisk until whipped cream mixture has thickened. This could also be achieved with a mixer on medium speed. Set aside.
Cut one lady finger in half and place both pieces in shallow cup or bowl. Repeat with second cup. Pour desired amount of espresso over lady fingers and allow to soak in. Top with whipped cream mixture.
Sprinkle whipped cream with cocoa powder. Serve immediately.
ORANGE & FIELD TIP: This can also be made earlier in the day and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve. The whipped cream will thicken more during this time. We suggest not sprinkling the top with cocoa powder until you’re ready to serve.
